Nestled at the Mayacamas Mountain Range base, across from Ehlers Estate, AXR’s historic St. Helena estate’s soils have benefited from thousands of years of sediment runoff, resulting in wines with undeniable character. The winery’s proprietors have an unwavering goal of extracting the uniqueness of their vineyard, with renowned winemaker Jean Hoefliger acting as the human conduit for the vines to tell their story.
Jean draws on his experiences working in the cellars at Chateau Carbonnieux and Chateau Lynch-Bages in Bordeaux, bringing a Grand Cru Classé prestige to his Napa Valley masterpieces. This Proprietary Red Blend is a classic Left Bank style with 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, but for a much friendlier price than a comparable quality French Bordeaux.
